Artist Kathy Karas is inspired to paint every day the beautiful scenery of her area from the mountains to the sea
Her art using the mediums of oils, acrylics and watercolour is described as modern impressionism to contemporary
Do you have a special painting in mind that you would love to have painted?
Perhaps a particular view or a portrait.
Commissioned paintings are a big part of what I do as an artist and I have completed many special paintings for happy clients
I pride myself on getting the best results.
The process begins with a meeting either by email, Zoom or in person to discuss what you require. In this meeting I ask you in depth what your expectations are for the painting. I do ask a lot of questions but this is only because I need a clear direction for a successful artwork.
My priority is to paint an artwork that my client will love.
A commissioned painting is very different from buying a stock artwork and involves many hours of work
Indeed I take my commissioned work seriously as I know that when a client orders a special piece this is in most cases a very considered decision with the expectation of an artwork to treasure.
Contact me to book a time to discuss your special one of a kind original.
Painting is a life long passion and I have honed my skills over the years to create works of art that I am proud of.
My story is that from a young age as an only child I found my happy place immersed in my art. Like a good book my paints and canvases became my closest friends and a safe haven for this introvert.
As an adult I found my tribe of lovely art friends who I love to spend time with, painting, exhibiting and sharing.
It wasn't too long before people were asking me to teach them to paint. I spent many happy years with my students at classes and workshops. One thing led to another and I found myself taking art groups to Europe and retreats within Australia.
Many of these students have progressed to enjoying their art and exhibiting and selling art themselves.
So much for being an introvert!
Many of my students have become wonderful friends.
Currently, because of these recent times, I have retired from teaching classes to concentrate on my developing my own work.
I have been involved in many group and solo exhibitions and am shown in Vienna and in Italy at the Urbino in Aquarello festival.
A twice finalist in the James Kiwi Watercolour prize and a twice finalist in the Meroogal Women's Art Prize
My journey continues on this path to follow my passion to paint.
To me it is more than a pass time but a total way of life as important to me as taking my next breath
My mantra is " paint with heart and soul for that is when the magic happens"
2021 has brought new possibilities and hopefully this will be a better year for us all
I have been relishing my time in the studio and working on a body of new works for upcoming solo exhibitions this year
Continuing on my "Earth Song" series, the more I explore and paint my surroundings I feel a greater connection to this beautiful country and all that she has to offer whether it is coastal or escarpment views
It is fun to share the process
Hi there and welcome to my studio.
Little did I know that when we went into iso due to COVID earlier this year that this would be the busiest time of all my years of painting.
Want to hear about what has kept me so busy?
